An absolutely fabulous read!  The poignant, true to life story of two women's individual hardships growing up in Afghanistan and how their lives merged together into a world where they learn to trust each other and make sacrifices you & I couldn't imagine.  The developing history of the country over their lifespans along with their own oppression brought on by political reasons as well as the men in their lives make this a novel you won't put down until you are finished.  Khaled Hosseini is a new breed of writer for me and brilliant in his method of melding real life in a fictional story.

All my life, I've read like a maniac...under the covers as a kid with a flashlight and still now into the wee hours of the morning.  Once I pick up a book, there's nothing else I want to do.  You get lost in books and to me, it's like watching an excellent movie, but you design the set and choose the appearance of the characters in your head while reading.  It's called imagination!
