An excellent read.  I actually read The Gate House first, not having realized who Nelson Demille was, which is crazy, because we've all been exposed to his work.  I realized that I had read The General's Daughter years ago, after I read The Gate House and this is my author of the year in my world!  Obviously, I went back and read The Gold Coast and it was still great even though I knew what was going to happen in the second book.  The book has the mafia man, Frank Bellarosa, trying to co-exist with the upper class in a not so subtle manner and the main character is a sarcastic lawyer, John Sutter.  It takes place on the Gold Coast of Long Island and will entertain you to no end.

PLUM ISLAND
by Nelson Demille
Grand Central Publishing | August 1, 2011 | Mass Market Paperbound

The hair-raising suspense of The General''s Daughter... the wry wit of The Gold Coast...this is vintage Nelson DeMille at the peak of his originality and the height of his powers...Wounded in the line of duty, NYPD homicide cop John Corey is convalescing in rural eastern Long Island when an attractive young couple he knows is found shot to death on the family patio. The victims were biologists at Plum Island, a research site rumored to be an incubator for germ warfare.Suddenly, a local double murder takes on shattering global implications -- and thrusts Corey and two extraordinary women into a dangerous search for the secret of PLUM ISLAND....

Brian... It's good that you ordered Plum Island because (although it's not his latest...) it's the first in a series of five books.
1. Plum Island
2. The Lion's Game
3. Night Fall
4. Wild Fire
5. The Lion
All the books have John Corey as the main character and they are all excellent. Dan & I read them out of order at the beginning...not realizing once again of course! Hahahaha!

Enjoy! Let me know how you liked The Gate House.

All my life, I've read like a maniac...under the covers as a kid with a flashlight and still now into the wee hours of the morning.  Once I pick up a book, there's nothing else I want to do.  You get lost in books and to me, it's like watching an excellent movie, but you design the set and choose the appearance of the characters in your head while reading.  It's called imagination!
